RARE! Stunning! Brilliant Blue Silk Asian Influenced Evening Below the Knee Jacket. Silk. Inside and out with the amazing and intricate detailing found on McFadden Couture pieces from this era. This stunning brilliant blue jacket is intricately quilted throughout with black silk piping on the cuffs and down the front. Slightly belled sleeve.
Some 24 black silk covered buttons with black silk loops secure the jacket in front and on the diagonal down the front. Another 16 black silk covered buttons placed diagonally adorn each cuff. The jacket is worn here, just as Mary McFadden herself wore it, with a McFadden black velvet full length skirt, which can be purchased from Lipstick Girl separately (see SKU 10712CL). Luxuriously and fully lined in blue silk.
McFadden wore this combination in the pages of a book on her career (see photo).
Most of McFadden's work involved a tremendous amount of handwork and this is no exception. Absolutely exquisite and likely one of a kind.
Condition: Excellent. A few buttons missing.
