Mary McFadden Couture 1980s Coral Heavily Beaded Sequined Silk Blend Gown with Signature "Marii" Pleating Size US 6

1980s Mary McFadden Couture Peachy Pink Gown with "Marii" Pleateing. Spectacular multi-hued pastel sequined and beaded detailing encrust the wide waistband. Signature, and patented, Fortuny-style pleats. Silk blend skirt with very subtle but oh-so-luxe tone on tone print. Long tapered sleeves with zipper closures at the cuffs. Back zipper with hook and eye closure. Another side zip closure just another feature of this couture perfectly fitted gown. There is some natural give to the bodice and full skirt insuring this gown will flatter many body types. Fully lined.

In 1975, McFadden patented a new pleating technique, which produced a fabric that looked quite like that of Fortuny, but it was made from polyester and the pleating is permanent. This fabric became her trademark along with exotic embroideries beading and couture quality.

Condition: Very Good to Excellent Condition. A few loose threads on beaded waist. Light wear along inner seam of sleeves. One stain on the silk underskirt that does not show through to the silk overskirt (see photo).
